I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

9/11 Timeline
Hey there welcome to another one of my blog posts, today I have made a timeline about the events that occurred during 9/11.The reason 9/11 was chaotic was because no one really knew what was going on and most of the world was in shock. I learnt that there were other planes hijacked during the attack as I thought there was only two.

Separating a Mixture using Distillation
Kia ora, today we are doing a condensation experiment in chemicals.
Equipment: A solution of saltwater, conical flask, heatproof mat, a delivery tube and bung, Bunsen burner, tripod, gauze mat, retort stand, boss head, clamp, coke zero, beaker and boiling tube.
Method:
1. Set up equipment as shown in the diagram.
2. Add approximately 50 mL of saltwater to your conical flask.
3. Light your Bunsen burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen burner under the tripod.
Hypothesis:
I think that the Coke Zero will be dark and will leave behind a little bit of sugar when we are done.
I think that the Cocoa-Cola will leave more sugar behind and will be a lighter colour.
First off the condensation began in the flask and then started to boil which caused it to evaporate. The reason it started to boil is because we heated the flask up with the element. As this was happening the solvent started to evaporate into the beaker. Our outcome was very interesting, The coke zero left behind a strange sugar like substance in the flask and the beaker got filled up with water.
In conclusion I was slightly right with my hypothesis apart from the sugar part.

Evaporation Experiment
Recently we have been learning about solute, solvent and solutions.
Evaporation is when a liquid changes to a gas / vapor.
Our aim is to evaporate Copper Sulfate which is a solution.
Hypothesis: I think it will bubble then turn into gas.
Equipment: Gause Mat, element, beaker, copper sulfate and evaporating dish.
First off we filled the beaker will 100mls of warm water onto the element and put the evaporating dish filled with copper sulfate on top of the beaker and set the element to 3.
The beaker first started to fog up and bubble. The copper sulfate started to get lighter in colour. The bubbles then started rising then popping. Then massive bubbles started appearing because it was boiling and steam then started coming out. A while later crystals started forming.
Conclusion: First off the water started bubbling and the glass got foggy, then the copper sulfate started getting lighter in colour. Finally the copper sulfate started to crystallise.

Figurative Language in Advertising
Today we learnt about figurative language in advertising.
What is a simile? : A simile is comparing to things. Eg: Sonny ate like a dinosaur
What is a metaphor? : A metaphor is describing something that isn't true Eg: My bird is an elephant in the morning.
What is personification? : Giving something human characteristics. Eg: The car started running away.
What is a hyperbole? : An exaggerated statement Eg: It was so cold the penguins were wearing scarfs

Top 10 Rules that will help you survive a Zombie Apocalypse!
1. Do NOT be a hero, another dead person means another zombie!
2. Wear a seat belt, you never know when you'll run into a zombie or two.
3. Get a kick ass partner, if you wanna be batman you gotta have a robin.
4. Always carry a spare change of underwear, you don't wanna be running from zombies with dirty underwear!
5. When in doubt know your way out, because you never know when somethings gonna sneak up on ya.
6. Avoid crowded places because there is most likely a zombie or two hiding in there.
7. A little sunscreen never hurt nobody, a sun burn is something you don't really want during an zombie apocalypse...
8. Travel light because you don't wanna be having a stroll with some zombies.
9. Beware bathrooms as you never know what will be hiding in there.
