I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Cows Eye Dissection
Eye Dissection
Aim: To dissect a cow's eye and look at the different parts of the eye.
5 Types of Leadership
Leadership is taking charge and being a role model for others. Its also helping others and knowing what to do and when to do it.
Earlier in the week we did a quiz and it showed what type of leader you are. I kind of agree with what I got and agree that you can never be too experienced.

Refraction through Lenses
Refraction through Lenses
Aim: To investigate how different types of lenses refract light.
Equipment: Triple-slit ray slide, power supply, a concave lens and a convex lens
Method:
1. Set up a ray box, triple slit ray slide and power supply
2. Place the convex lens in the space below. Place the ray box at the top of the page and shine the three rays of light at the lens. Make sure the central light ray hits the lens at 90 degrees as indicated in the diagram.
3. Carefully trace the direction of the incoming and refracted rays.
4. Repeat using the concave lens.
Conclusion: The following sentences describe the way light refracts through the two different lenses. Read the sentences and identify which lens relate to each sentence.
When light passes through this type of lens, the rays all move away (diverge) from each other. One use of these lenses is in security peepholes in a door so that a person inside a room can see who is at the door without having to open it.
The lens described in the paragraph above is a convex lens

Reflection and Refraction
Reflection and Refraction
Reflection - The bouncing back of a wave when it hits a surface through which it cannot pass.
Refraction - The bending of a wave as it passes at an angle from one medium to another
Incident ray - incoming ray
Reflected ray - the light that has bent as it enters a new medium
Normal Line - imaginary line drawn perpendicular to the surface of a mirror or any surface
Angle - The amount of bending that a light ray experiences
Law of Reflection
The law of reflection states that when a ray of light reflects off a surface, the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.

Speed of Light
Speed of Light
Aim: To investigate how light behaves when it hits a plane (flat mirror)
Equipment: Light box, Transformer, mirror and paper protractor / plastic protractor.
Method:
1. Collect a ray box, power supply, and single slit ray slide from your teacher, and set them up to produce a single beam of light.
2. Place a plane mirror on the diagram of the protractor as described.
3. Vary the angle of incidence and record the angle of reflection in the results table.
Results:
Angle of Incidence | Angle of Reflection |
0° | 0° |
10° | 10° |
20° | 20° |
30° | 30° |
40° | 40° |
50° | 50° |
60° | 60° |
70° | 70° |
80° | 80° |

Holidays DLO
Holidays DLO
Here is a post on what I did during these past school holidays.
During these holidays I spent most of my days sleeping, playing xbox and hanging out with friends.
On the second week of the holidays two of my friends and I went to Wycola to try out the new sushi shop, we were in luck as since it was opening on that day they were giving away 100 packs of free sushi. Afterwords we went and hung out at the park.
During the holidays I felt great since I had so much free time to do whatever I wanted.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed your holidays!
