Creedence Clearwater Revival -Fortunate Son
Lyrics -
They're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
They point the cannon at you, Lord
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
Lord, don't they help themselves, yeah
But when the taxman comes to the door
The house look a like a rummage sale
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
They send you down to war
And when you ask 'em: "How much should we give?"
They only answer: "More, more, more"
The song really enforces the fact that people inherit thoughtless patriotism and that is also the reason the song is called fortunate son.
"Yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes"
Both members of Creedence Clearwater Revival were drafted into the military but were able to avoid getting sent to Vietnam which is a little ironic since the song is about people avoiding the fact they have to make sacrifices for their country but in turn that does mean the song is correct and that wealthy people are able to avoid any issues that occur in their life.
So in conclusion this song talks a lot about how patriotism is inherited and that the war is useless.
