Home Economics: Apple Crumble

Hello, this week in home economics we made Apple Crumble
The members of my group were TJ, Kaleb and Cruz

Recipe

1/2 c Flour
Final outcome.

1/2 c Brown Sugar (not packed)

75 g cold butter (cut into small cubes)

3/4 c Rolled Oats (Wholegrain Oats)

2 - 3 Medium sized Apples (cooking apples e.g. Granny Smith work well)

1/2 - 3/4 t Cinnamon

1 D White Sugar

1 T Water

Method

* Pre heat oven to 170C (use Fan bake or Fan forced if you can).

Before being cooked in the oven.

1. Put flour, cinnamon and brown sugar into a medium bowl.

2. Rub butter lightly into the flour mixture.

3. Add rolled oats and mix with a fork.

4. Peel and quarter the apples. Cut core out and slice each quarter into thin slices.

5. Divide evenly and place into 2 greased pie dishes.

6. Sprinkle with white sugar and water.

7. Spoon this mixture evenly over the apples to cover them.

8. Bake on Fan bake for 10 - 15 min or until edge is going brown.

Our team worked very well together as we all split the work up and got things done.

Our apple crumble was a very good mixture of soft and crunchiness that it crumbled in your mouth and you could taste the very sweet cinnamon. With the ice cream added onto the top it was a very nice mix of hot and cold.

This time we followed the recipe very well and made sure we made no mistakes.

Thank you for reading.

  1. Hi Aryan. I am glad that you enjoyed this recipe. I like your comments about your group and your sensory evaluation of the final product. Do you think the cinnamon was sweet or the the combination of cinnamon and brown sugar was sweet?
