The Cheeseburger test!

Hey there welcome back to my blog! Today we will be doing an experiment on a cheeseburger to see what it is made out of. First I will tell some interesting info.

What is a carbohydrate?: A carbohydrate is set in two groups, simple sugars and complex sugars, carbohydrates give you energy!

What are proteins?: Proteins form the man part of animal cells, that means foods high in protein are usually from animal tissue. Protein is required for growth, repairing damaged tissue, hormones and energy.

What are lipids?: Lipids (fats and oils) are used for making cell membranes, energy, keeping us warm and protecting our organs.

Aim: To test if a sample food contains, carbohydrates, protein or lipids.

Hypothesis: I think Cheese will be lipids, sauce will be carbs, bread will be carbs, meat pattie will be protein and pickle will be carbs.

Method: Complex sugars -
1. Place about 2 mL of the sample in a test tube.
2. Add 3-5 drops of iodine and mix.

Results : Bread has complex sugar, meat doesn't have complex sugar, cheese doesn't have complex sugar, pickle has complex sugar

Bread has simple sugar, meat doesn't have simple sugar, cheese is not a simple sugar  and pickle is a simple sugar!
